There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.”

Zoe Hisey, LMHCA

Welcome to Out of the Blue Counseling! I’m Zoe.

I grew up in a remote Alaskan village, experiencing both adventure and adversity. I moved to Washington over 30 years ago with my husband and raised our family near the Cascade mountains. I’m an avid long-distance motorcycle rider, and in my spare time I enjoy family, friends, and writing novels.

UPDATE: I am no longer accepting new clients.

My clinical areas of focus are grief, anxiety, depression, sexual abuse, and trauma.

I am passionate about supporting people as they navigate their struggles, and reach their goals.

My therapeutic approach comes from a blend of holistic, client-centered collaboration with a focus on depth work. I mainly draw from narrative and relational influences. A narrative modality encourages well-rounded conversation, engagement, and curiosity about your life story, thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. A relational modality inspires new ways of relating, thinking, and feeling. The combination of these two modalities provides an opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of one’s self. New connections made in this setting bring long-lasting internal transformation that can be applied to relationships outside the therapeutic context. The rewards include a life that includes delight, peace, curiosity, creativity, and meaning.

I regularly take additional training and education in the specialty areas of grief, trauma, and neglect/abuse. It is sacred and honorable work to engage in life stories with others.

I can also be found at Grief.com and Therapist.com.

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate, licensed by the State of Washington. (Credential # MC61298256)
